Oxpentifylline
Indications/Uses
Chronic occlusive vascular disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 1 tab tid. Maintenance: 1 tab bid-tid.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
History of previous intolerance to oxpentifylline or methylxanthines eg, caffeine, theophylline & theobromine.
Special Precautions
Possible occurrence of angina, hypotension & arrhythmia. Bleeding or prolonged prothrombin time. Frequently monitor prothrombin times in patients on anticoagulants. Periodically examine for hematocrit &/or Hb in patients w/ other risk factors complicated by hemorrhage eg, recent surgery, peptic ulceration. Monitor systemic BP in patients receiving concomitant antihypertensive therapy. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea & vomiting; dizziness, headache, flushing; nervousness, insomnia, drowsiness, anxiety, confusion; malaise, bad taste, excessive salivation, blurred vision, conjunctivitis, scotoma, ear ache, rash, pruritus, urticaria, brittle fingernails, wt change, swollen glands, nasal congestion.
